10 tips to hire the right employee

Hiring the right employee for your business could sometimes be a difficult process but it is a very important determining fact if you business succeeds or fails. These 10 tips will help you make the best decisions fast because they’re based on techniques that have been tested and trusted. Also they’ve been developed based on mistakes made by many recruiters in the past. Here they are:

1. Always Interview (questions reveal things)

The first rule to hiring the best employee is to actually interview them and ask the right questions. The reason why this is important and works is because questions reveal things.

They reveal what someone is excited about and things they’re defensive about. As a business owner you should focus on their body language as you ask these questions because they’ll definitely reveal most things you need to know. Your focus should definitely be on asking the best questions.

2. Give them an assignment

The goal of every business is to have a stable workforce so we can assume that most businesses prefer thinking long-term when it comes to who they’re planning to hire and if you plan on having an employee who will work for a long time till they’ve outgrown that position you should be willing to test their abilities and their readiness and willingness to deliver tasks given to them. A very good way to know that from day one is to give them an assignment related to the job they’re coming to do and the company’s culture. That way you’ll be able to take a sneak peak into some of their dispositions when it comes to task delivery.

3. Do A Background Check and credit check

When hiring people as a business owner you should be aware that most of the people you’re hiring will bring their best foot forward and they’ll leave many parts out about who they really are so its your responsibility to do a background check to find out if they’re really who they profess to be. The life and survival of your business lies in your hand so you need to take the effort to confirm most of the information you’re given.

Another important check to do is a credit check. Why tis is important is because it reveals their relationship with their resources. Even though you shouldn’t be expecting to hire a saint but the things you find will inform you well enough to be able to ask the right questions and make the right judgement based on the answers you get.

4. Call References

References are important to the hiring process being the to the new hire. The references could be a co worker or a past employee, either way its important as a business owner hiring someone that you actually call the references and find out useful information relating to your new hire.

As with most things hiring is a numbers game, meaning that you might need to go through lots of people to find the right person for the position you intend to hire for so you will definitely need to find find techniques to weed through unwanted people who just won’t be a good fit for your business. One good technique to use is to send them a video talking about your company policies and culture. You need to state your non-negotiables so those who won’t be willing to fit to your company culture will make the decision not to even show up so you’ll only interview the right people.

6. Look at their social media

In this day and age social media has become most people’s major way of expression is their social media. It shows their preferences, their affiliations and association and habits. As a business owner your employees represent your company’s brand so it’s important that you pay attention to your prospective employees.
